Nowadays more and more home owners and housewives are considering the negative impact of commercial cleaning solutions, not only on the environment, but the potential negative affect these can have on their own health, their children and pets. Here is all you need to know about the three most popular natural cleaning agents - vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda.

Vinegar. Vinegar is used for carpets and in bathrooms. We can rightfully say that it is an universal cleaning solution, or as some call it “all-purpose cleaner”. According to professional cleaners a cleaning solution with vinegar is very easy to make – simply put equal portions of vinegar and water – mix them in a spray bottle and attack the annoying stains! Vinegar is so popular because of its deodorizing and antibacterial qualities. Using vinegar in the bathroom is a great idea as it will help you clean the toilet, tub, sink and tiles. Around the tub and sink it will help you get rid of soap scum. It will leave every part of your bathroom shiny, clean and fresh.

With vinegar you can clean kitchen surfaces, most floors and you can use it in the laundry. In fact, vinegar will prevent the colours from running and will help preserve your clothes for longer. This is one reason it is often used on oriental rugs.

Lemon Juice. Lemon juice will hep you clean copper items around your house, making them shiny and fresh. Lemon juice smells nice and not only cleans, but will freshen up your entire home. A great way to scrub dishes, stains left to dry for long time and other surfaces is by cutting a lemon in half, applying baking soda on top of the cut half and scrub straight away. Professional cleaners warn you that when you clean with lemon you should keep in mind it is largely known for its bleaching qualities and you need to be careful when applying it to stains or upholstery, carpets etc. First try on an area that is not that visible.

You can use lemon juice for cleaning the kitchen surfaces, or to pour it down the drains to eliminate grease build-up and nasty odour. It is perfect because it is natural.

Baking Soda. Sodium Bicarbonate or as also known baking soda is largely used in the form of a paste, dissolved in water or as it is. In the form of powder it help eliminate unpleasant odours and slate smells. It is enough to sprinkle on the bottom of a garbage bin, ashtray, in refrigerators, gym bags and other camping and fishing equipment, as well as shoes. It absorbs moisture and smell and leaves the area dry and deodorized.
